Over 600,000 bbls/day of imported crude oil arrives at the Port
of Corpus Christi, which is the 4th busiest port on the Gulf Coast. Over 40%
of the crude arrives from the Persian Gulf, West Africa, and the
United Kingdom
on
supertankers, which is lightered onto smaller shuttle tankers offshore in the Gulf
of Mexico and then transported to the several refineries at the port.

The remainder of the crude oil imports originates from South America
and Mexico and arrives onboard Panamax, Aframax or Suezmax tankers.
